THE CHALLENGE
Essar Ports needed its Hazira port channel marked across the full range of modern polyethylene buoys — AMB 700mm, 1250mm, 1500mm, 1750mm and 2200mm diameter — each complete with moorings and a solar marine lantern. Handling five different buoy sizes in a single channel-marking job, from small special-mark buoys to the largest 2200mm units, called for careful sequencing and a vessel able to lift and position each size safely.
WHAT AEROMARINE DID
- Supplied the full range ordered — AMB 700, 1250, 1500, 1750 and 2200mm dia polyethylene buoys — each fitted with moorings and a solar marine lantern.
- Staged and rigged every buoy in the yard, checking moorings, topmarks and lanterns before each unit went out to the channel.
- Deployed a multicat to lift, lower and moor the buoys on station, working buoy by buoy along the length of the Hazira channel.
- Worked hands-on through the installation with Essar Port’s Capt Gagan, whose on-the-water assistance kept the job moving safely across all 15 buoys.
- Completed the installation of all 15 buoys, across all five sizes, safely and within the stipulated time.
