Chain Through Buoys, Ex-Stock to Keep an SPM Running

How Aeromarine met HOEC’s urgent need for two CTB-5000 chain through buoys — ready stock, BV-certified and dispatched, so the SPM never stopped.

PRODUCT

Chain Through Buoy CTB-5000

SCOPE

2 × buoys, 5-tonne net buoyancy, for 76mm chain

DELIVERED

Ex-stock · Mumbai basis

THE CHALLENGE

Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC), ordering through Hindage Oilfield Services Limited, needed two CTB-5000 chain through buoys — 2 m diameter, 5-tonne net buoyancy, sized for 76 mm chain — to keep a Single Point Mooring in operation. The standard lead time quoted for this buoy is four weeks. HOEC’s operations couldn’t wait that long.

WHAT AEROMARINE DID

  • Had 2 CTB-5000 chain through buoys already in stock, built to spec: closed-cell PE foam core, PU elastomer skin (orange, 5 mm, 75 Shore A), hot-dip-galvanized steelwork, sized for 76 mm chain.
  • Released them for Bureau Veritas third-party inspection rather than waiting on a fresh production run.
  • Both buoys passed BV’s visual, dimensional and buoyancy checks with no non-conformities and no open punch items.
  • Certified and dispatched on ex-stock timing — well inside the standard 4-week lead time — keeping HOEC’s SPM running without interruption.

THE OUTCOME

Two BV-certified CTB-5000 chain through buoys were supplied from stock and dispatched to HOEC well ahead of the standard lead time — keeping the SPM running without a gap in operations.

WHY IT MATTERS

An SPM offline is not a paperwork problem, it’s a production problem. Having chain through buoys built, tested and ready — rather than waiting on the next build slot — is what turns an urgent replacement into a non-event for the customer. It’s another example of Aeromarine’s stock depth answering a schedule no standard lead time could meet, alongside the anchors it has kept on the shelf for McDermott.
