THE CHALLENGE
A vessel at anchorage without a serviceable bower anchor is stuck — it cannot sail, and every day at anchor is cost and lost schedule. The owners of the M.V. Alam Suria (Seiun Shipping S.A., Panama), through their Mumbai agents, needed a complete package, not just a product: a 4,800 kg AC-14 high-holding-power anchor and ten shackle lengths of 62 mm stud-link chain with all fittings — supplied, inspected and certified by Class, cleared through customs, barged out, and installed on the vessel at outer anchorage.
And they needed it on war footing.
WHAT AEROMARINE DID - ONE ACCOUNTABLE JOB
- Supplied a 4,800 kg AC-14 HHP anchor; ten shackle lengths of 62 mm Grade U3 stud-link chain (27.5 m each — some 275 m, around 24 tonnes); eleven 62 mm Kenter shackles; and a swivel assembly with anchor shackle — all with test certificates. Around 30 tonnes of ground tackle in all.
- Arranged Class inspection and certification of the anchor, chain and fittings at our warehouse.
- Cleared the material through customs and moved it by crane to Mumbai Port.
- Loaded onto a pre-arranged crane barge and taken out to the vessel at anchorage.
- Installed the anchor and chain on the vessel at anchorage — a specialist operation Aeromarine carries out in-house — completed to the Master’s satisfaction.

THE OUTCOME
Close to 30 tonnes of anchor and chain — supplied, certified, cleared, barged and fitted — inside about two days, to the Captain’s satisfaction. The vessel back to readiness without losing its window. Another job well done on war footing.
WHY IT MATTERS
Anyone can quote an anchor. Very few can supply it, get it Class-approved and through customs, put it on a barge and install it at anchorage — as one accountable job, at this speed. That whole-operation capability is what Aeromarine means by a support system, not a price-list vendor.
Every buoy rotationally moulded, rigged and lantern-fitted at Aeromarine’s own works, then staged for shipment to Kerala.
